Fair / Grand Kids / Deer

Well here we are into August  and  the hot time of the year.    We can hardly believe that  the fair is over and it is time to get ready to go fishing.  Last week we took a kayak trip with friends down the Deschutes  River and had a great time.  The scenery was wonderful.

We had the the grand kids for a few days to go to the fair.
We took them up to the cabin while they were with us.
Water, sand, rocks and dirt.  They were in heaven.
We had a good time at the fair, checking out the goats, lambs , bunnies and the chickens.
Of course, we had to check out Nana's  flower and garden entries.  We have had a good
year in the garden.  I received 12 blue ribbons and 3 red ribbons.  I was a good thing
that the fair is over because two nights ago a deer jumped into flower garden and ate
every bloom that was there.  We also have a pack rat in the garden and he or she seems
to love my herbs and the tomatoes.   Hopefully Lee will be able to get the critter before
he goes fishing.

Last week we had thunder and lightening and the clouds produced such a beautiful sunset.

This is the only kind of flower the deer didn't eat.  Maybe I should start growing  Poppies and  feather grass.
I am getting ready to do pickles tomorrow so hope all goes well and it isn't too warm.
