Onward We Go!

Halloween is past, the citizens have spoken with their votes, so onward we go.  It will be interesting

to see how the next four years go.  I hope better than the last four.  With that here are a couple of pictures of the family and how they spent Halloween.
Porter was a policeman for Halloween and Wyatt was a pirate . Porter said that they got lots of  candy
and would save a piece for Nana and Papa.
Clint, Tanya, Kimber and Dane were hunters for Halloween and Tanya captured this nice buck.
We are having snow showers this morning.  It is so pretty up here at the lake and nice that we don't
have to go anywhere.

Fishing, Hunting and traveling Sept/Oct

Fishing was a little slow this year, but my hubby did hook this nice 32lb Chinook off the mouth of the  Sandy River. He also broke the family record for the largest fish that was held by me for 35 years. I am so proud of him he has been fishing a long time for the big one.
We had Porter and Wyatt for a few days over the fall and spent time in the garden digging potatoes. Oh yes, worms too!
Porter and Wyatt had fun building their own Pizza.
Lee had his most eventful birthday ever this year. 70 Years Young!!!  We had a party for him with  several of our friends.  A good time way had by all.

In Oct we were off to Montana to visit Clint, Tanya, Dane and Kimber and of course to go deer hunting.  We had a great time with the kids. I couldn't believe how much Kimber and Dane had grown since spring. We had wonderful weather when we arrived it was pretty warm with lots of
leaf  gathering to do.  Dane and Kimber are great little helpers.
Saturday morning Nana and Kimber held down the fort, while Clint,Tanya, Lee and Dane went hunting.  Lee got this nice doe right after first light.
Clint and Tanya both had buck tags and Clint was able to get this nice 4 point buck mid morning.
They had a great hunt. The next two days we were cutting up meat and making sausage.  Lee and I are so thankful that they put up with us old folks for a week. We had about 2 inches of snow while we were there but it was after the hunt.  Winter is just around the corner. That's all for now.

Fair / Grand Kids / Deer

Well here we are into August  and  the hot time of the year.    We can hardly believe that  the fair is over and it is time to get ready to go fishing.  Last week we took a kayak trip with friends down the Deschutes  River and had a great time.  The scenery was wonderful.

Moms got a new ride

Well, as you can guess this is dad's ride, but on Sunday we took a drive up to   Bowman  Dam and checked
out the scenery there.  Lee feels like a kid when he gets behind the wheel!!!!
There were lots of boats on the water Sunday all playing and  no fishing.
It is a very deep canyon and lots of very beautiful rock formations to be seen.

Last week we went kayaking with our friends Dorothy and Gary.  My new kayak  took  her maiden
voyage.  I am looking forward to Parker next winter and all the time on the water. We were at Hosner lake
just outside of Bend.  Very beautiful and water so clear that you could see the fish and the bottom of the
lake.
This was the end of the trail.  We had lunch at this wonderful spot and then  headed back to the cars
and home.  We look forward to doing this at least a couple of times again this summer.

Summer has finally arrived!

Well, I did it again pictures first and the story at the bottom of the page. My poppies
have been just beautiful and if the deer don't eat all the flowers I will have some for
the fair.
Our garden has been doing great. I even have some volunteer  tomato starts from last years  plants.
The boys had so much fun with the fire works at the 4th of July, so they had them 3 nights in a row.  The
dogs were happy when it was all over. John our neighbor at the lake helped keep the dog occupied.

We took the boys fishing, but all Wyatt wanted to do was hold the worms.  Not enough action
from the fishing so we decided to go to the beach for lunch and water time.

The boys clowning around on the deck
Playing around in the water and making sand dams and rivers was the most fun of all.

Summer at long last has arrived.  Our garden is producing cucumbers, herbs, and zucchini. We had our first cucumber 10 days ago.  The tomatoes are still green, but we are suppose to be hot again by the end of the week.  It would be nice to have them ready to go to the fair on the 8th of August.  We had Porter and Wyatt over the 4th of July for a few days and I don't know who had more fun with the fireworks, Lee or the boys. Below are a few pictures from the 4th and the garden.

Dad and Mom

I know that it has been such a long time since the last post.  Our family has had a very long spring.  I lost my father on the 5th of May and my mother passes away on the 12th of June.  They would have been married
65 years on the 4th of August.  You know you don't always realize how much you will miss that phone call or the chance to say I love you or to hear them say those words until they are gone.  I truly miss them both!
I know they are in a better place now and together again.

Thank you to all the care givers and staff from Powell Valley Assisted Care and the Dr.s and Staff from
OHSU and Providence hospitals that cared for Dad and Mom on their last journey.  Dad and Mom were
very blessed to have so many friends and family that were always there for them.

These are a few of the pictures of my sister Debbie, Mom, brother Harley, Dad and myself from a few
years ago.  The picture of  mom and dad sitting on the bench together is one of my favorites that was
taken just a year ago.  Dad loved to garden and I know I got my green thumb from dad.  Dad would
be proud of my garden so far this year. Mom and Dad lived a long great life together and we were so
blessed to have them all this time.

Winter in Parker

Well here we are at out new home for the winter.  Pirates Den RV Park in Parker, AZ.
Sunshine and blue sky for most days. Lee and I were able to ride our bikes and kayak lots.

Can you believe that even in Jan. the big boats were out on the water trying to get some
sun.
We couldn't miss the Parker 425.  There were lots of  big and little trucks traveling out
in the desert. Lots of wind this year and needless to say dust!

This was our spot on the Colorado River.  Our friends John and Ruth let us borrow
their kayak for the winter. I was kayaking  in the River in Jan.  We had such nice days
even up  to the 80 degree mark.
The sunsets were  really pretty.  We didn't have a cabana this year but our neighbors were
nice enough to let us use theirs when we wanted.
Lee, Dorthy and Gary did the desert walk out to the old desert bar and had a great time.
I missed this year because I was on my way back to Portland to help out with my folks.

This is a picture from one of the hikes we took with our friends Myron and Susie. You
can see the river below.  It is a very hilly surrounding us but makes for wonderful hikes.

As you can see below we were having snow today March 31,2012 ! I could have been
an April fools joke!  We are getting winter at home now.  We had a good winter down
in AZ and look forward to next year already.
Hope all is well in your neck of the woods. Our little grandsons, Dane and Porter
turned 4years old this month. We are having a family gathering in April and I will
post more pictures then.  Bye for now.
